FAMILY SNAPS

Flailing in unpaid bills and
          rent. Dams fail.
Eviction impends
the falling weight of water.
Addiction rends our moorings and we
          drift,
borne up on the current not
by buoyancy but insubstantiality;
desperate tears evaporate on
          stone...

Aimless but together we
occupy our little room:
you lost in Moody Blues
your unfed children on the beach;
I obsessive watch
          because
one day, alone
I may not remember your face.

...AND I'LL BLOW YOUR HOUSE IN

                          Hold on
to the image until
it
       takes hold of
                                       you

sears through your mind sinking
deeper than your heart
dribbles down the ancient stairway
rolls
             against
                               the doors
                                                      and

detonates
desecrating careful hidden bones
                     the unknown soldiers of
wars long forgot
branded on your soul's lens

when you close your eyes always
dancing with your ghosts

                                 always when
they're open looking back at you, but

when you reach out
always vanishing.
